Hail Fellows,

Things have been a bit busier recently as far as numbers goes. It may well be possible now for us to raise enough people to go after that turtle that haunts the depths.

One thing to remember, is that this should take no more than fifteen minutes even for a couple of ventures into it's lair, and may indeed be much quicker... so even if you don't have much time to spare on a given evening you may be able to fit this in.

Please post if you would like to do this soon and ...

Although I once thought it impossible, it has gotten to the stage that Khuzdul tablets actually make me feel rather ill (), and I would much rather keep the little silver it takes to identify an item than spend it and then deconstruct them.

Please post if you have many legendary items yet to collect so I can flood your mailbox with those that are filling my bags.

Hail Kin!

Last weekend a brave and quickly rallied troupe of Kin-members set out to do mighty deeds in Skumfil.

Alas, the deeds did not prove mighty enough. We ran afoul of Brumbereth, previously dispatched, but now we didn't come through.

This ticked me off, wondering what I (or we) did wrong. I'm still not sure, but want a rematch!

I would also like to tell her King what I think of his demeanor... (go to the right side of Skumfil, that is).

Hail fellows,

I need a few corrosive droplets that I think drop from slugs just inside the sewers of Carn Dum. I made it as far as the sewer gates, just to find I don't have the key to enter (which I believe Urro drops).

I am hoping a few brave fellows may be able to help me defeat him. If possible burglars or elven characters would be wonderful as we could sneak past all the guards and then Tiers is free to bother the slugs in the sewers.

I would like to see Nuin Giliath as kin to take the challenge and form 12 men raid group. First of all, we would need close to 12 well equipped heroes, acid resistance and good class balance are the most important issues. I think we can ask few old kinmembers and friends to fill the last spots.

Acid resistance can be build by traits (some classes) and itemization (3 pieces of copper coin set).

So, interested people please do pre "sign up" here, and we see if ...

I think I am not the only one yet to complete this book (after two attempts with unfortunate resullts despite the company of brave warriors).

There will probably be a few people about wanting to complete it now the next book has been released, but of course as ever a group with unknown fellows is to be an absolutely last resort.

Are there any others still to complete this book? Perhaps we can coordinate something over the weekend?

After completing the Midnight Raid for a second time, I opted to take the Tier 3 Fire Striker scroll for my Loremaster book. It states that it does additional fire damage, but doesn't give an idea of how much. So, we decided to investigate, as one of the others on the run was an alt of a loremaster, and took down some numbers before and after I applied the scroll. Looks like it's an additional 5% damage. Don't know if this is applicable to any of the other classes, but would have thought so.

I think this might warrant it's own thread, but if people would prefer it can be added to the planning thread.

I would like to join with people for group adventures in Moria. I think any day now a lot of us are going to need to complete them, and history shows us how much easier and more enjoyable this will be with Kin and allies rather than strangers.

Things I would like to include (in spoiler tag just in case):

Spoiler:

Spoiler:This is taken from the official forum for LoTR, and pretty good explaining things. Basically to yield the best rewards, and have a hope of getting the tier 8 runics you should level 6 legendaries at a time, and deconstruct the ones you don't want at specific levels (as discovered by Aloisa):

1

9 - 10

11 - 20

21 - 30

I think the sequence continues much the same. This bit is extracted from the LoTR forum:

The end bit of the Thrang fight probably needs a little clarification, as it was....muddled last night, so I thought I'd put the salient points down here.

Thrang has a buff which makes him pretty much immune to damage. If he stands next to an exploding fumarole, it takes away his buff for 15 seconds and we can damage him. The fumaroles will explode whoever gets near to them, and they can do a lot of damage.

So, the process goes like this:

Nobody but the tank hits Thrang to begin. ...

This has annoyed me about LOTRO since day 1.

In Fellowship and Raid the mechanism for following someone's target is awful. The whole thing seems to be geared around having lots of Windows up and focusing on the information in the windows rather than the pretty graphics.

The Raid Assist Window is clunky, displaying target's target and clicking on those is messy. Another problem is when the Target Picker changes targets which has happened recently in a couple of groups. Leader says follow ...

So, why should we bring the Captain?

There are a few reviews of the Captain class on the web, but for my own benefit, and, I hope, for yours, here is the view of Captain "Lemming" Coltsfoot. Firstly though, in the way of a scientific paper, for those who don't want, or have not the time, to read the whole document, here is the abstract:

A Captain can summon you. He can increase your health, power, ICPR, hope, shadow mitigation, critical chance, parry, speed of combat, and ...

We’re not all just stuns and “Don’t AOE!”. You may be aware of those because they’re the ones that everyone uses us for, however we’ve got some subtle and evil little tricks up our sleeves too. Anyway, here’s the Loremistress from my point of view.

Debuffs

Sign of Power command. This slows the enemy, their attack duration is 20% longer, and they lose 0.8% from their parry. This shouldn’t cause aggro, unless the foe’s a stealthy sort.

So I think Barowine will be visiting Moors more often.

My goal there is to beat monsters, and to do that I try to find raids able to take and keep strategigal points. My another goal is to get to rank 9 and get that awesome black horse with white hooves. Love at first sight....aahh

My point is, never ask me for creep activity! One word: Evil.

First of all, a HUGE thank you to all those who came on the Nuin Giliath Rift Run this weekend - it was a lot of fun, great to adventure with so many of you, and was amazingly successful. I know a number of you made some serious effort to be there, and that means a lot, so again thank you. For those of you that couldn't make it but wanted to, I'd like to get another run going in about a month, if we have enough willing members.

On that basis I though I'd start a new Rift thread, where we ...

Thaurlach damage type

Now that Colt has a choice of legendary weapons to use in the Thaurlach fight, he needs to know which will be the most effective. Unfortunately I can't seem to find Thaurlach's damage mitigation anywhere. He may be the same as other ancient evil, ie Beleriand, but it would be nice to be certain. Does anyone know what damage type I should be using?

I did actually intend to be there tonight but my computer is kaput, or more specifically the CPU fan has died.

Just to keep things interesting I removed the CPU mounting/restraint when installing the last fan and that restraint is now at the bottom of a little box of spare parts I left with a friend who will not be back in the country till November.

If someone could pass a message onto Feandil or the Helegrod team I would appreciate it.
