Impossibly Unlucky?

Post  Flamebeard on Thu Mar 05, 2009 3:05 pm

I'm not sure whether it's just me or the dwarven race as a whole that's unlucky.

Flame has now been through the instances 14 times trying to retrieve a piece of the legendary Durin's guard armour without a single success. Sad (Was very close to getting one on the Monday night 16th Hall Kin run though!)

From a really personal and greedy point of view I would be really grateful if some of the kin who already have one would help me get the breastplate from the forges on a Monday night kin run.

It would be lovely to get enough of us with all 6 pieces to get a Vile Maw raid party together but at my current rate I estimate that it will be another 2 to 3 years before I manage to get them with the luck that I'm having.

I will see if myself and a few friends can maybe arrange a run sometime with you next week to get you that elusive piece!

This is why NG are in a good postion - as a small kin we should, if possible, be doing these runs together so that we all eventually get the item. Its a bit tough in PUGs rolling for best of 6 every run.

I have responded to other kinships (see freinds of ng) when they have asked me to help assist on runs I already have completed - I would be more than glad to do the same for NG.

Anyway . . . Monday Kin night seems to be working for incomplete books and missing armour deices as most of us seem to be making an effort to be around. A few of us have verbally agreed that Friday nights ay be the start of the NG watcher runs once we are all fully equipped.

Is there a high radiance snorkel for dwarves and hobbits ;-)

Always happy to help Flame, would be a pleasure. I always enjoy the runs with kin and friends of kin.

Goes for anyone needing help at whatever level. If I can, I'll be more than glad to lend a hand, if not immediatley, then as soon as I can Smile

Just as an aside, as we do the kin runs for gear it's worth having a good idea as to what jewellry you would want. A lot of the gear you find can be trash to your class, but there are some "essential" items you may simply pass by without realising.

To start the ball rolling for champs I would say this is a good set of gear:

Treasury:Amber Ring
Grand Stairs: Diamond Stud, Bracelet: Insidious Cuff
Skumfil: Pendevig-clog cloak

Now the Skumfil cloak is a good one, but I've done the Grand Stairs a lot of times, and only once has a teal cloak dropped there. Cannot remember the name, but it is actually better than the one at Skumfil, and is very nice for any melee class.

There are some other decent stuff as well, but these are also perhaps good for other melee classes as well.

If it helps, Flamebeard, we share the same run of luck. I have yet to win a roll for armour in Moria. Damn, I hate Moria and it hates me! I have done a lot of instance runs. I have one radiance piece, as the group (Colt, Alqua and Shadows iirc) were kind enough to run DD again after I lost the roll yet again; the whole group had the item then so I didn't have to roll for it. I was sure I was going to find some way of losing anyway! While it's hard to remember, I don't think I have ever won a roll for any of the other armour sets either. I am outfitted from the charity shop.

Oh well, it's just a really awful run of bad luck. It will turn around. It's just a horrible feeling falling behind even when you've done a lot of runs, and I wanted to let you know that I sympathise and to blow off some steam of my own.

As always, I will help if needed, I can even lead every instance since I've been to them all so many times... someone just has to ask *stares at Alqua*

You're thinking of Club Rift again with the troll bouncers in thongs and bow ties, the hobbit gimp suits, elf maiden pole dancers and the dwarven bar staff in mithrill mankinis.

All run by Elrond Heffner in a red ressing gown.

That really conjurs up images that are wrong in so many ways.

If I have bad dreams tonight I'll blame you Faf.
