Book of Deeds and Memories

Post  Fafnir Hreidmarson on Thu Nov 15, 2007 1:11 am

This is a thread to remember the deeds and contributions of former or inactive members. Please add additional people or additional messages as comments.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's some of mine to start with.

Eriendur
A fine and noble leader - I recall his Hunter's Quick Retreat skill with great pain as I realised it was me and the troll while the Nut-Eating Surrendur Monkey was halfway across Middle Earth. Very Happy Good hunting in whatever lands you are now adventurung in.

Dwaigrim
Hail noble dwarf - you were a steadfast companion and your efforts with the running of the kinship were many. Hope your travels are safe wherever you are heading.

Mellindithil
I hope you are well wherever you are adventuring currently. Your songs were a comfort in many a dangerous place. I've even started to understand Sindarin.

Davalin
A Dwarven Minstrel is a welcome companion, I hope you are well in your retirement. My son Fafalin has taken up the Minstrel's task - if he does half as good a job as you I'll be happy.

What Fafnir didn't notice - it must have been the head blows - was this loremistress desperately trying to blind the aforementioned troll!

Eriendur spent many an hour showing myself and Colt the sights of Eriador, some beautiful, such as his homelands, and some less so, but none the less memorable - the bruises faded eventually. We fought dark creatures together on many an occasion and were nearly always victorious - a testimonial to his leadership and teamwork, for we would rarely carry much in the way of healing and often chased enemy far greater than our powers at the time. They were good times indeed and I will always carry them fondly in my heart.

Melindithil - ah, her heart is as warm and uplifting as her song. You have only to know her for a little while, yet you feel that you have a lifelong friend.
She earned the title "Minstrel's Minstrel" one dark and long night in Fornost, when, upon reaching the tallest tower and defeating a dark and foul foe, Colt slipped and fell to his doom, or so we thought. Melindithil managed to scramble to his rescue and revive him, to this day how she did it remains a mystery. I can only think that the Valar were watching over them both that night.

Dwaigrim and Davalin I know less well, and that is my loss - but what I do know of them encompasses all that I have grown to love in Nuin Guiliath. Honour, bravery, compassion. I will drink to their health and remember them fondly.

To our absent officers - may the stars always shine bright and bold upon their paths, as theirs have shone upon ours.

Eriendur helped me to become the hunter that i have become, he was definately a good and generous teacher.

Davalin helped me for a few hours in the north downs long ago, this was when i realised how much i enjoyed Nuin Giliath and its members, and as payment i sent him every jewel i found for the rest of his time.

Deynah - Gave me the bow that i still use long ago, and carved my name in it!

Remember Mellindithil once coming to help me and Davalin find Kemp's stash long ago. (before pamelo was born!) I basically remember mel's lovely contribution to the kin. The first RP i was ever involved in was just when I joined, the day Renn joined, we were all outside west Bree round fires. Mel had a thing for a seemingly very annoying elf! That was indeed a beautiful night. In tribute to Mel, I changed Andoi's (and Elandoi, her sister) surname to Silivrenniel - the name of Mel's champion alt.
Also, I STILL use the bow Deynah made for me, i would have a very hard time parting with it.

Mellindithil - The most gracious Elf woman I've ever known! She was the one I once sought contact with, and it was her that got me into Nuin Giliath, be it on Gladoin, I will be ever gratefull towards her for that. For me she also was this... beacon of pure RP when you needed it. I spend many occasions asking her about the game and it's lore (small facts I didn't know) and she always answered with the same precise aswers.

Eriendur - Better leaders are not there, equals are as rare as mithril. Will be ever gratefull for the guidance in those days of Nuin Giliath. We all ever faithfully followed your footsteps wherever you lead them, and you never proofed us wrong. Master Eriendur, wherever you reside, we can hear your bow sing!

Dwaigrim - As good a Dwarf can get. Although we did not spend much time adventuring together, we had many a conversation. All my respects to you, be it as collegue author and kinsmen in both blood and kinship.

Others I know not so well, but still...

The best of luck to all of you!

Farewell Vrai, I'll think of you when hammering the dents out of the armour you made me.

Also, farewell to Scugrim, a steadfast Dwarven ally, now retired from adventures in Middle Earth.

Buinn.

A good and kind-hearted Dwarf, hunter and friend. Fate has forced his hand, and he leaves us with warm wishes and good memories. As we wish him likewise.

Buinn, may there be many gems set like stars in the path you follow, that they may light your way and lighten your load.
