Sulegil in mens speech is Salogel
Sul (wind) and Gil (star) make the word Sulegil. This is what elves call shooting stars and was my birth name.
When I arrived in Bree I think after a few of barlimans brews and my poor accent I became Salogel.
I feel I must honour my heritage and let people know . . . I am Sulegil but those that know me well may call me Sul.

Ah the shirrifs finally got your secret solved, haha. I always thought that it was very cunning and stylish name but shirrifs are ruthless.

Doesn't the bride usually carry the name after marriage Barrowine?

It was, despite its little secret, a far better and more elvish sounding name than many, many others (I'd like to think that the person who eventually reported you is himself named "Jordaneth" or something along those lines). Your heritage will be remembered in honour, friend Salogel, as your new name will shine for itself, Sulegil.

I must have missed this. How the hell does Salogel go against naming rules?????
Or am I missing some obscure reference or trade mark?

It's Legolas backwards, although to my mind I don't see any issue with it. I'm suprised after 2 years they have decided to make an issue out of it.

I have to admit, I didn't realise until it was pointed out to me either.
And I agree that despite the little secret, it sounded far more suitable for the setting than many many names out there.
We will type a new name but mostly think Salogel I am sure!

It's a shame that some people are so small minded. I think I'm myself very unforgiving when it comes to lore and names, (I often ignore people on the spot if I find their name breaking the lore and my feeling of immersion) that I feel lessen my ingame experience, but I never found Salogel breaking my immersion. So what if it means something when read backwards. *sigh*

I didn't realise it either, never even thought about it! It seemed such a natural name for an elf.
