Record of Kin members equipment from Moria Instances

For a couple of weeks now we have been discussing this in the officers forum to see what peoples feelings are about organising ourselves to well equip as many members as possible for current and future raids. It has been considered as a fairly sensitive issue because there has previously been concern about whether we are a raiding Kin or not and various other complex issues around that. So far there has been no objection and some enthusiasm for the idea, and Renn has gathered people for a fair few evening raids and we have had some success already.

This thread will act as a record of who needs what equippment so we can ensure everyone has a fair chance at gathering what they need. Things may change greatly with the arrival of the new book (a week or two away perhaps), but for now will will begin with as many evening six man Moria instances as possible.

I will also try to keep a record of adventures that take place in this thread (with assistance of others for evenings where I am not online) to ensure everyone is given a good chance to join in.

With peoples availability varying so much, I don't know if it will be possible to make sure everyone gains items in order or anything like that, but we can do our very best to make sure that no one is left behind, and hopefully that we don't all fly off into the book 8 raid while others without the suitable equippment are left behind.

Even if you only find time to play very rarely then please post in this thread and we may still be able to arrange some suitable times even if it takes a few weeks.

I will reserve the two posting spots beneath this one for a list of who needs what, and most likely a list of what adventures have taken place.

For now please reply with a list of what radiance equippment each of your characters has, and also if you know a given instance fairly well and will be willing to lead a raid there.

Feel free to add any other comments you would like to for the moment, but if it becomes quite a chaotic thread then some might be archived off elsewhere (but will still be visible).

I hope we can keep things very simple as far as rules go... who can roll for what and so on. With the typical spirit of Nuin Giliath there should be little conflict.

If you took part in the quest and you require the item then that should really be it... alt or main character. If we have seven or more characters ready to go to an instance, then it makes good sense to give priority to those who need the hard mode item. This will probably happen rarely, and after a night or two of trying an instance it should soon be just a handful of people who still need.


This is meant to be about radiance items more than anything, as they are probably going to be a requirement for new raids, and are already for one of course. It doesn't mean we can't work at gathering other items also, but I did not intend to track jewellry here. If things go very well then there may be time for a phase 2 where we can focus on that, but I suspect we may only get three or four items for some people before the next book is released. The intention here is really to try to even the field out a bit (including alts, as we probably won't get far without them because of class balance needed for larger and smaller groups).

Evening of 22/06/09 : Fil Gashan

Barowine, Sina, Langfel, Eterskel, Tiersatiffany and (a wonderful Loremistress friend of Barowine's and to my shame I do not remember how to spell her name - please remind me Barowine).

The run was a success and with care taken there were no retreats. The gloves were won and I expect we will have many more successful adventures here soon.

Evening of 23/06/09 : Fil Gashan

Sina, Eterskel, Flamebeard, Tiersatiffany, Ansalgar, Asieth (previously unknown champion).

One wipe on the final boss, but we were victorious afterwards with a slight revision of strategy.

Aloisa has all six items.

Tiersatiffany has only boots.

Phoenili has a long way to go before she even finds Moria.

Bregowine (alt) has 3 radiance pieces (missing Skumfil and secondary 16th + Dark Delvings). Bregowine has only 1/3 copper coin that will help great deal in Filikul aka turttle raid. Bregowine also has class Legendary quest to finish at Dark Delvings.

Barowine, who is in raiding kin, has 6 pieces (5 from the actual set) of radiance gear. I cant promise that he is always free to service Nuin Giliath, cause he must honour Leaves of the Malinorni (especially when it comes to raiding, because of the locks). Kin comes always first. Instead, he might join some hardmode runs, to finish few last deeds he has at Fil Gashan, Skumfil and Dark Delvings when extra DPS is needed instead of tanking.

Vinya has 5/6 of current radiance set, but is still looking for some jewelry
Mik has 4/6 of radiance also missing few pieces of jewelry
Eterskel has started to collect things...

At the moment I can't remember what their acid resistance armor situation is, Vin has some, Mik has some and Eters none I guess tough....

The jewelry I look for will likely need some farming runs on Grand Stairs, Forges and Skumfil leftside.

For availablility I'm most likely to be playing Thursday & Friday nights.

Lachlan has 6/6 of the +10 radiance set. Not sure about purple pieces, very few of these.

Langfel has 2/6 of the +10 radiance set, he has Chest (Forges) and Boots (GS). No purples.

Greve is Level 55 and currently is not adventuring actively.

Can we be clear about the +10 radiance set, and then add on any information about Watcher armour items?

Slight mistake on what Flame needs Aloisa

He needs Gloves, Shoulders and Helm.

Dantus now needs Gloves, Shoulders and Helm also.

Edgemoor has 5/6 radiance set item and radiance helm (so 6 radiance items in total) he needs nothing from the instances except jewellry from Grand Stairs and Treasury

Ansalgar has 4 of 6 radiance set and not sure he needs any jewellry from instances really. perhaps a diamond stud from Grand Stairs.

I'll make myself available for any instances that require either Edge or Ans. Perhaps a post to confirm who can go on a run in the evening?

Dwaigrim only has radiance boots at the moment and availability for late night instancing is uncertain at best.

Waimir hasn't even seen Moria yet... well maybe in his dreams.

Vin has radiance helm from Dark Delving, he just needs the one from watcher.
Mik has 6 radiance pieces too, just needs watcher pieces.
Eteskel was lucky to win gloves, still needs everything else...

Right... I think I have got everyone in there and not missed the details. Let me know if I have mixed anything up.

The idea is mainly to push to get everyone up to a level where they can join in current raids, and hopefully the one soon to come (latest news suggests this Thursday).

There are endless threads about this on the CM boards, but whether you like the idea of radiance or not, I think it is true that getting a certain amount of gear is a gateway to joining in new content.

It's just as important to get people additional items they want, both jewellry and nice armour from the raids (Aloisa would certainly love to get hold of some of them). I have been hoping that getting the jewellry can take place as part of regular instance runs. I might be missing one thing though... do a lot of those items only come along if you run an instance in quest mode? If so then we will have to make a point of doing that too.

With all the listing of who needs what, I have rather neglected to help much with arranging instance runs and so far it hasn't been very structured. The hope is to get something going just about every evening, but recently there has not really been enough notice to post a message for people to sign up to. I will try to get that going a bit later in the week, especially for people who can only come along on some evenings.

For now I think we can say that between 21:00 and 22:00 each night we will try to gather six people to try one instance or another. It would be wonderful if one night we had enough people to have two runs in one go (who knows... maybe of a weekend some time).

There was a little bit of frustration in the Kin channels last night, and I think everyones point of view has founding... but please try to see things from both sides.

It's partly my fault that I haven't made intentions as clear as I might, and this has left people not sure if a Kin thing will be going on or not. When that happens it's completely understandable that someone will take a chance to join a group for some adventure when they might otherwise be left with another night of sometimes dull grinding and visiting all the same places they do every other night.

Another thing to remember is that the more runs we have, the less people there will be left to roll for items. I am sure we will have all the people listed above (and any more who are added) fully equipped and ready to delve further into the depths of Moria sooner than you think!
